Equipped with horns and strings (including a harp), hometown hopefuls Shearwater dazzled the audience with two powerful sets Thursday night at The Parish. The first was a sneak peek at Tuesday’s new release, Rook, their second on Matador Records. In preparation for the show, the band dropped by KUT for an impromptu practice session - and we’ve got the exclusive audio for you below.

Will Courtney of Austin group Brothers and Sisters talks about a Beach Boys album that changed his life. Austins own Belleville Outfit will take the stage Monday May 26th at the Kerrville Folk Music Festival. This is The Belleville Outfit performing the title track from their new CD Wanderin’ in KUT’s studio 1a. It’s KUT’s Song of the Week.

Alejandro Escovedo played to a packed house on for the 4th installment of Eklektikos Live in the famed Austin City Limits studio. Stay tuned for a possible broadcast of this great performance. In the meantime here are some pictures.

Besides being unbearably cute Amy Lavere plays a mean upright bass. Her songs blend the lyrics of traditional country music with the jazz sounds of the big bass. A truly unique combination. This is Amy Lavere performing “Killing Him”.
